A Special Hiddur Mitzvah Program to Benefit the Coastal Regions Hit by Hurricane Katrina

In response to recent events on the Gulf Coast, The Gary Rosenthal Collection is asking for your help with a special Hiddur Mitzvah Project. Our goal is to provide Jewish families in New Orleans with ritual Judaica pieces to replace those lost or damaged in the hurricane.

Our Hanukkah drive was a great success--we supplied over 500 dreidels and hanukkiot to families in need at a Hanukkah celebration in New Orleans on December 20, 2005. Please read the invitation and press release (you will need Adobe Reader to open the file) to learn more.

Now that Hanukkah is past, we still hope to donate items such as Sabbath candlesticks, tzedukah boxes, Torah pointers, and mezuzot.

Invite your religious school, youth group, or members of your congregation to an event at which participants can make Judaica for New Orleans and for themselves. For more information, please call Jessy at 301.493.5577 or email jessy@hiddurmitzvah.org.
